What is a fair price for a set 100 v4s in premium finish for my local dealer that is special ordering them me, with no backout option. I think full retail is $2650. Thanks

Fmv for Paradigm Studio 100's v4 = $2499.00 US + tax. I would not pay anything over that. I would not expect to beat it by much either, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Warpdv,

You and I have an almost identical system.

All,

The my dealer has proposed 2k for basic finish and 2150 for premium finish, plus the standard tax.

I really wanted to get him to 2k for premium finish, but i still do not know how much he is making, someone has got to know how much these things cost a dealer.

Thanks

Its really nice... the CC-690 is so big, it really provides a full wall of seamless sound when in Movies, and the bass from it really reaches low.. I really didn't realize how much full frequency sound the center channel puts out..
Let me tell you, It can really benefit from a good power source, not unlike the 100's... its almost as big as them. :D

Not too many people can tolerate how loud my system gets, and I can run it all the way up to +12 on my Pioneer and I don't experience any distortion, just clean and clear throughout the entire range.

I still have some tweeking to do with EQ settings and the like. I work so much, and when I get time, I have so many other things to do... but I'll get it goin.

The only people who would be able to tell you for sure what the dealer pays for them would be other dealers & i'll gaurentee they aint talking:rolleyes:

I can tell you that dealer mark ups on speakers are huge & generally in the 40% to 60% range depending on the manufacturer & model, mark ups also depend on what type of account the dealer has with the manufacturer, alot of manufacturers offer discounts to dealers that pay their bill quickly.

If you can get a dealer to let em go out the door for a 30% discount from msrp your doing good.

Would one of you Paradigm owners kindly give me a brief primer on the differences between the Studio 100...v2, v3, and v4? Thanks in advance.

hifi$, thanks for the insight, 30% off list seems like a fair deal. I am currently at 20% and will push for 30.

If you are getting 20% off you are getting a good deal.

I have been buying from the same dealer for the past 4 years. Only in the past year have I spent the big $$, at least for me. I got nice discounts on items after I developed a relationship with him. Dealers can get in trouble for lowering their price beyond a certain point. Specifically Anthem/Paradigm. When I got my pre-amp, I priced it from the three dealers in the IL area who sold it. I, of course, went back to my normal guy who did meet the price, but was quite upset that the other dealers droped their drawers.

I will say that the CC-690 is a huge improvement over the cc-570 and you will feel the impact of the center channel from the first sound that comes out of it.

NA,not at all,in theory yes but in pratice no,dealers have way more lee way than they let on,every high end dealer ive done business with has their own source (re seller) to funnel new gear out the back door at huge discounts, chances are huge volumes of gear are going out your dealers back door for alot less than 20% off.

Next time you want to buy an expensive peice from your dealer instead of accepting 20% off msrp try this, offer him 20% above his cost, you'd be suprised at how many dealers understand that 20% profit is better than nothing.

Unless you have a "special relationship" with a dealer you'll never know their exact cost & if you do find a dealer thats willing to show you his price book the dealer down the street may pay less than your dealer for the same gear, alot of manufacturers offer dealers discounts based on sales volume & if they keep their bill paid on time, even deeper discounts are offered to dealers who have more gear on their show room floor or have a manufacturers entire line on the floor.

Chances are that a dealer who's store has a ton of different gear & different model speakers all on the show room floor is paying way less than a dealer who has just a few models & can only show you brochures of the really expensive stuff.

Generally speakers have the highest mark up of all & the more the speaker costs the more the mark up is,the same goes for electronics, higher msrp = higher mark up's.

A safe bet is to figure that a dealer pays 40% of msrp for speakers & 50% of msrp for electronics.

when i looked at buying v3 last year, i think i was quoted 2000 or 2100 for cherry, or maybe it was for the black - dad was looking at getting a set in black. i have not priced v4 yet (for possible use as dual centers & or surrounds) with my sig 8's. i'm close to puchasing the sig adp for less than 2000 from same dealer, & msrp is 2500, but want to try the sig 4 & the 100
v4 as surrounds before i make a decision. there are price differences between different finishes, cherry i think is cheapest, black is more expensive & birdseye maple is most expensive, at least in the signature line, although black & birdseye may be same price. the birdseye maple is a superior finish in the signature line, but i bought cherry as that matched my furniture.

as for differences b/w v2, v3 & v4, i have no experience with the v2. critical difference b/w v3 & v4 is v4 gets the tweeter from the signature line, which is a significant improvement. demoed v3 last year at home, & tweeter in my sig 8 was substantially better than tweeter in v3. when i return from vacation in couple weeks going to dealer to test out a set of v4 for use as a dual center channel, as well as sig 4. will update as to results once i get done. going to do it all at the dealer to avoid having to cart a bunch of speakers home.
