Escient VS, Fusion Research, Axonix MediaMax, or ?

Let me start by saying that given all other work I'm doing around the house I don't want to have to build my own Media Server (and i work Microsoft, so I know where the issues are ;)

Given that, I'm looking at picking up an Escient VS-100 (would be interested in finding a 200, but can't seem to find one avail anywhere). These are discontinued - and it they seem to be reasonably priced right now...

Another option would be a Fusion Research device - Ebay has 1 pop up every couple of months...

Also looking at the Axonix MediaMax - haven't heard much about this one.

Any opinions on any of these options? I'm looking to get between 100-300 DVD's off the shelf and made avail. in my home theater. One of the main reasons is that our kids tend to scratch their DVD's, and I'm tired of replacing them (and swapping them in our DVD players).

Any/all opinions are welcome!

hmm...

Does this mean everyone here is going the Windows Media Center route for including a video server in their setups? I'm surprised...

Anyone using anything other than custom PC's for this?

This is a mostly DIY crowd.

I absolutely have my Vista MCE with MyMovies humming right along. I love the Netflix plug-in also.
