S shawn Audiophyte Feb 1, 2005 #1 Hi, Im looking to buy an entry level receiver to go with a pair of floorstanding speakers passed down to me by an audiophile friend(built by him). I am mainly interested in CD/stereo but would like a home theater receiver if it works equally well with stereo. I have looked around some and read that a nice starting point is the Yamaha HTR-5740. Since they cost around the same I was wondering how the Yamaha RX-V450 compares. I'm not particular about any brand and am pretty much willing to experiment with any suggestions thrown up by the gurus here! Thanks Shawn
