I am in the process of building an inexpensive system for my Nephew. The speakers I got for him are rated at 6ohms and 86db sensitivity.

Can you guys help me find an AVR that would properly power these in a small apartment?

Criteria:
Audio over HDMI
Pre-outs in case we need to add an amp
Under $330
Refurb is fine

Right now I am thinking of the Yamaha HTR-6160.

What else should I look at?

I personally would stay away from the 1019 with those speakers, but I admit that might be out of ignorance. I'd have to research it to know for sure, but I have this impression that the power components in the 1019 aren't even as good as the ones in my 1015. The 1015 could drive those NHTs in a small apartment no problem, but I'm not sure if the 1019 could.

 So did I! Holy cow, Pioneer really stepped that 1000-series down this year. That's too bad.

My remark was based on Greg's nephew not having an amp for a while, which is my assumption. The fact that it doesn't have pre-amp outputs or the Elite power supplies really makes me sad for the 1000-series.
