................ Buying the trim at Home Depot was a mistake. I think it was $2.40/ft for around 40ft. I figured around a hundred bucks and I wonder what I could have gotten at a lumber yard for that. It's 5-1/8" tall. Weird size but it is a perfect match to existing....
Sounds like you're getting there; and what counts is that the trim matches.

The Depot & Loews is (as you know) handy, though tailored for the home owner.
Most of their stuff is cheapened in some way.
Even beyond trim; the model number of some things are slightly different than the same thing purchased at a real supply house or lumber yard.

Naw man, if you sent them to me, I would have to figure out a way to get them to Lubbock which means, they would be in my garage for 6 years...
I travel back and forth from Austin to Lubbock a few times a year.. If that helps, I could take them to Lubbock and they may eventually find their way to your nephew :D

I think we're in the end game now. The trim is on in the living room but the nail holes are not filled. The caulk joint isn't painted yet either. I just don't want to further aggravate my poor old knees. I'm going to need them next week at work.

The ManTown side needs to be patched up and the box needs to be trimmed out with Mahogany ... BUT ... I'm just happy to have cleared out the sectional couch that I have been walking around for months on end.

For this pic I was trying to spread my legs so that your focus would be on the wood.

Long ago I envisioned myself somehow building a desk top over the box and building a barristers bookshelf to hang on the wall. After these long years getting it to this point I am absolutely delighted to have a spot to put a couple of tool boxes. I may not have my weight distribution figured out 100% because it's sagged a little but I'll work on that along with everything else ... and by that I mean later.

This is the part where the Entertainment Center thread runs over into the ManTown thread because I'm really wanting to get this little fella hooked up to my subs ... I just haven't figured out what to do with the other 5 channels.

What I need is an A/V professional to come over here and take care of this stuff. I want to be eating and giving orders. Maybe this imaginary A/V professional knows a drywaller, a taper, an electrician and a painter ... plus a cabinet maker and a finish carpenter. I need a freakin' car mechanic too. Imaginary applications for these positions will be flooding my imaginary in-box in no time.

I think I may just forget about all this for a couple of hours and re-watch A Clockwork Orange on Blu-ray. It's only Dolby Digital but I need to go into my rec'r to set up the DD-EX thing anyway. That should sound pretty nice with the Salks and I've always been a big fan of sex and violence with a classical backdrop.

I like the big shiny thing. I've always been curious about how the Klipsch made Aragon amps compared to the older Mondial ones. I guess now I'm curious how both of them sound in comparison to the new Aragon amps as well. My GF's dad is a huge Aragon fan and he has one of the old 4004's. Really great amp, almost makes me want one :D

Kurt has one too. I just saw one on the 'gon going for a grand which is a little steep. They normally sell for about $700. I finally yanked the Carver (sorry, Walter) and put this beast in. It's nice and quiet. Runs cool too. Looks beastly. I'm a little smitten. I still need to run across the right 2 channel deal for the subs. :)

It looks awesome. I bet it does run cool, you're probably not even making it break a sweat. It certainly looks darn cool. I like silver amps, too bad the GF hates them. Although she does like glowing lights so I guess some analog meters wouldn't be out of the question.

Yea, I'd like one of those old one's, but I need a new multichannel amp first to replace the Outlaw. That won't be for awhile since now I need to buy two new amps for the new sub that will hopefully be completed sometime in next couple months. I'm watching two amps right now, either of which I'd snag in a heartbeat if I only had any money (a Cinepro 3k6SE and a SILVER Cinenova Grande 7 channel). I want that silver Cinenova so bad. I guess if I have to wait, and pay anywhere near that much for a multi-channel amp I'd almost rather just get an AB Cinema, but I'll probably jump on some cheaper one that pops up to put the money I'd save towards something more interesting (CNC machine).

That thing with the 328 watts weighing in at 122 lbs? That goes for like 5 grand? I am so becoming a teacher. How hard is it to fake credentials? :D

If you can think of a creative solution that gets me a ton of cash and a two channel for this silent, cool as a cucumber SILVER Aragon 2007 ... let me know. You can tell your g/f that it's temporary. Look, we all lie. She needs to learn that. :D

Dude, that Aragon doesn't have a trigger, does it? Maybe if you send me some cash, I'll swap you for my RPA-1...with glowing analog meters. :)

Yup, although there's one on eBay for $4 grand. However for that much I could get an AB Cinema 6 channel that pumps out 500 WPC @ 8 with 3db of headroom.

Not hard at all. Nod it's wants to be one right now :p

Street corners and stripping. I'm sure Adam, Bryce, Doug, etc would all chip in to help :D

Wouldn't be the first time that me and some friends told a guy that we'd pay him to strip...
Based on all that male twister talk I knew this would be right up your alley........although maybe you'd rather be putting up someone else's alley?

With all the stuff that he gets for free/virtually free, I'd chip in a few bucks to see him earn it. It would feel like being part of history. :D

I just took a quick look at the AH review of that RPA-1. I suppose congratulations are in order for teasing me like this yet again. That emo would be perfect but the truth is that as out of place as this Aragon is pushing these subs, I am lucky to have it. It's like delivering pizzas in a Porsche.

I saw that ebay deal with like a dozen pic's. That isn't just silver, it's polished and gleaming. I need to break out the cleaning products for this amp and the MB-27s. Why does life have so much work? Why do you want so much power? Is it because you live close to Walter? I actually do get it. The difference between 100 and 103 decibels is much greater than the difference between 70 and 73 decibels to our perceived sense of loudness ... IIRC.

The condo dweller thing keeps me in check ... for the most part.

You've reminded me to share something - last week, I was reminded that I had an SPL meter app on my phone. So, I fired it up while watching TV at my normal listening volumes. It averaged around 30 dB, with peaks in the mid-30s. Hmmm, maybe I don't need these amps...

That's way off. I think 70 db is normal conversation levels. Don't you have a real spl meter?

Why do I want so much power? Future proofing. Eventually I'll be in a bigger room, and it'll take a bit more power to reach those transient peaks. I'm not running 90db efficient speakers either, so to reach reference levels it takes a lot. The Cinenova Grande is probably way more than I need, but you can usually get the black 5 channel versions for a reasonable price ($2000-2800 depending on condition) or I could invest a little more and get an AB Cinema at 400WPC for around $3500. I figure it's worth it for about 15+ years of solid performance and no worries about running out of juice.

Perhaps I'm just crazy, but if nothing else that damn thing is pretty :D

This is something YAA hasn't exactly come to understand. That little ***** took me down for $600 on a center channel and worked it so I was thanking him at the end of the exchange. I wanted ask him,"don't you know who I am" ?!?

There was a black version on eBay for $25 less than the silver one IIRC. 4k seems crazy but then again hobby is a misnomer for passion. One of the things that really counts in my book is the operating temp of gear. I wonder how the RPA-1 behaves in that regard. I'm thinking of using one or maybe two Behringer A500 amps for these subs but then again this Aragon beast is already here. It just bugs me that it's the wrong tool for the job ... and black would suit me better ... and it's 2 feet tall!
