Enough Gain or not?

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying an Adcom GFA-555 amp on Ebay to use with my receiver to drive mains in my HT setup. My concern is will my Onk. TX-SR702 preouts drive that amp, if I'm not mistaken the Adcom has a 27-29dB gain structure. I would appreciate any advice before I pull the trigger and buy it. I know the Emo's have the higher gain for that particular situation of using a receiver as preamp. Thanks so much all.
Best regards, Jeff

Sounds like you are worried about a minor issue. Why do you need an external amp?

I really want to take some load off my receivers amps and use the 702 to drive center and rears with external amp for mains. I quess I would like to have more power which I probably do not need. I plan on integrating my turntable and CD player into my HT setup and would like to have a dedicated higher powered amp for that purpose, using the receiver as pre. Thanks for responding to my thread, I await further insights.

I doubt there is a problem. Line level is around a volt, with +/- 0.25 volts in most situations. Even of there was a sensitivity miss match of 0.5 volts, that would only be 3db.
