I got a question for all you guys who recommended the PSB's? Have any of you heard those Energy speakers or any Energies for that matter:confused! I have not auditioned a lot of speakers but I am comfortable in offering an opinion here because I've heard both mfg's offered in the OP.
Thats a great big 10-4:D My concern is with the spcific model energy, which seems to have had issues with the tweeters going bye bye on them.

5 people recommended the PSB speakers. So you just contradicted your statement.
If you read my earlier post I stated if they are alot better for my needs, meaning movies and gaming, then I would buy the PSB's. Most people seem to agree that they are better, but for what I need is it worth an extra 500+++ after I get the rest of the speakers to fill out a 5.1 system. If it is than I will consider it.

Which version? The where two versions of the XL's (xl.. or xl...) speakers and that later were not good;).

Ok it seems your requirements are changing. The T45s are much better than teh Energys but I have also asked you if you minded waiting to grow the rest of your system. If you don't mind waiting a few years to buy all your pieces, then my all means, spring for the T45s and don't look back. I was under the impression that you needed all at once and that music wasn't a priority.

They aren't changing. Music is not a priority at all. I would say 5% of time I will listen to music. I was just trying to get the point across that the money is not the biggest deciding factor. Having said that, with what I will be using it for, I don't want to spend a bunch more than I have to if it will not be a significant step up. It seems to me some of you do believe it will be a big jump between the two. I just don't know if my virgin ears will be able to detect much of a difference. I'm starting to think that ignorance is bliss. If I don't hear the PSB's than maybe I can convince myself that they are not better. ;)

My gut feeling is that if the Energy's sound good and are in decent shape, then I would be crazy not to grab them. The difference in sound for movie watching can't be that much can it???

Oh, and I would prefer to have it all right now rather than wait.

Are the XL-26 model the bad or good version???
The latter ones use a silver baffle(xl... ) and the eariler version(xl..) used a black baffle.

Otherwise, you're on your own from here on out, because I don't want to insight a flame war:p.

In some ways it is. Your first mistake was posting here in the midst of a bunch of audioholics.

In the end that is a question only you can answer for yourself. When I picked up my system, it was to be music first. I figured I could be happy with the sound from my display for movies. Now that I am actually sitting in my livingroom enjoying better-than-theater sound for everything I watch, I can't see ever going back to anything lesser.

The other way to look at it is that if you pick up the energy's now and are not satisfied, you can always sell them and pick up something better. Consider the small loss you take on selling the system as the cost of learning.

Either way, get 'unstuck' from the analysis and start enjoying something. You will be glad you moved forward.

I 100% agree. That's what I do to audition different speakers.
