Guys,

Need your advise.. I recently acquired 5.1 sattelite system.
It is Energy micro. Few straightforward questions if you may...

I calibrated my Amp using this speaker setup, but there are dials in the back of the woofer and I need to know how the
knobs need to be positioned when running the calib. test;

Volume Level ? Straightforward to me, but should I set it to minimum or max when calibrating?
Lowpass Filter ? What does this do? Range is from 40 to 150hz
Phase ? Switch with 0 or 180 selection

Somewhat I am not satisfied with flat sound, and both my receiver and Speakers are rave to be outstanding in sound
Am I missing something?
Please help

On the subwoofer, the Volume you will want to start at about 1/2 way up, the lowpass filter turn to the max(150hz) position and the Phase leave at 0, if you have a second sub, you may need to adjust this, but if your running one sub, just leave it.

You should probably make sure that you have crossed over the speakers in the receiver at its max point, I don't know what receiver you have, but the speakers low frequency is only to 150 hz, that is pretty high, so the bass will be localized.

Overall the sound won't be much more then your typical HTiB, I say this and I am a fan of Energy speakers, however the drivers in the speakers and the tweeters are small and will not push a ton of air in your room.

As for sound, Energy speakers are very linear, so they will be very balanced and there won't be a anything standing out more then another, that combined with the slightly laidback highs of Energys sound, you won't get a loud(bright) speaker, nor will it have the deepest bass... this is true throughout there entire line of speakers. However they are easy on the ears and great for music and HT equally.

That being said, you may not like their particular type of sound... you should have auditioned them before getting them.

IMO, I would say that you may like their tower speakers a lot more because they will offer more then what these tiny satelites can offer.

Hope that is helpful.

That was definitely helpful! I am little unsure about the crossover, but I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH, and used auto calibration. I do not know how to set this up. right now there are 2 connections to my woofer, left and right, but I utulize one channel since my receiver has one sub output. Menu thanks for great adise!!

In the pioneer menu there will be a section for setting the speakers to Large or Small, You want to set it to Small if the receivers Auto-Calibration hasn't done that yet, and set the Crossove,r should be right there somewhere also, and set that to 150 hz, or whatever the maximum is if it doesn't go that high. I don't remember but if the receiver has an LPF of LFE option in the audio Menu, set that to 120 hz also. or whatever the max is, which I think is 120 hz.

For the subwoofer, use an RCA y splitter 1Female to 2 Male splitter, you can buy it right here on the Audioholics store for about $6 made by velocity, use that to connect to the R&L inputs on the back of the sub, this will give you a lift in input going to the sub and make it easier to wake up, when set to auto on.
