I am having problems tracking down an Energy dealer so I can demo the new Take series. I used their site to find 2 "local" dealers. One said that their showroom is under construction and the other has not returned my calls. Both of these are about 100 miles away. I found another dealer 130 miles away who said he'd do a demo by appointment. I told him this Saturday morning would work and he said that he'd have to call me back. That was 2 days ago. I tried to e-mail Energy for help and have yet to get a response.

Now I'm starting to wonder if driving all that way is even worth it. The reviews are good, specs are good, look is good and price is good. If I like the sound, it's a done deal.

Anyone know of a reputable dealer within 150 miles of Indianapolis? For the owners - are they worth the drive? If they are so hard to buy - are they going to be in business for very long?

Not sure about the Take series but they provided first class service to my 20 year old speakers. Also, in the past I was always able to talk to someone from their factory. Try giving them a call.

What model of the Take series are you looking at? I have heard all of them (TWR, FPS, LCR, and SAT) and they are very nice sounding speakers for what they are (flat panel speakers). If you are looking to get the TWRs then maybe you should give the Mirage Omnisat FS V2s a listen as they are a sister company of Energy. They have a very similar shape and driver configuration ,except for the omniguide drivers on top, and may give a good impretion on how the Take series from Energy might sound. The Mirage speakers are available at Magnolia stores in your area. Otherwise, I believe that they are worth the audition if you can find a dealer close by.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to make a few more calls today. I'm leaning toward the SATs for LR&surround with LCR for the center and S10.3 for the sub. I might go LCR for the front 3. I have a really small room with 2 large openings so on wall near the LCD is the only option. A local shop has Paradigm and I demo'd the cinema 110 and they sounded ok, but I think there is room for improvement. I'm also going to read up on the Mirage speakers.

Thanks,
Mark

Speaker Options

If you have a chance to demo the energy or paradigms again, you should also check out their bookshelf speakers like the paradigm mini monitors. These will peform much better than satellite type speakers with 3-4" drivers.
There are also some great internet direct options like Onix X-LS (av123.com), Axiom Audio and Ascend.

If you are going to be at a Paradigm dealer and want small, the Atom is a fantastic little speaker. ~$200 a pair.

Going with at least the LCR across the front is a good idea as the SATs are quite small and most likely will not be able to play loud enough, even for a small room.

Thanks!! I demo'd the Atoms and bought a pair. I compared them to the Cinema 110's and my mind was instantly made up. If Energy was in my area and the dealers that I had called had their act together, I probably would have gone that route. It's not worth that much trouble to me. So my setup is Atom R/L with a CC-170 center. Two in-wall for rear surround and I ordered SVS's PB10-NSD which will arrive soon.

Thanks for everyone's hep. I'm sure I'll have more questions when the sub arrives.
