We were blessed with a wonderful summer in Lakes country, which gave this region a much needed economic shot in the arm. Our grandchildren had a real summer to remember here.
September was the low spot, but I missed half of it being in England.
October gave us over four weeks of glorious weather.
I have got my fall chores accomplished during this glorious spell. Last Friday was the last bonus day. It was supposed to be windy and colder, but it was a still day and gloriously warm. We got the final winter close up done in the shop. Everything is serviced for winter duty or ready to go again in the Spring. The chains and comfort covers were put on the Model A and the snow blower on the JD 214. Everything that needs to be, is now under cover in the shop for winter. The leaves are long down now and we cleared the last of the winter leaves.
When all was done I took this beautiful picture of Benedict Lake before the weather turned.
The real purpose of this post is to share with you that beautiful photograph.
Yesterday the wind turned cold from the North East. Today there is a cold rain. I have had the log fireplace keeping my wife and me cozy for a nice quiet weekend. We are supposed to get a lot of rain this week and it will turn to snow around Wednesday. It is a good thing, as the fire risk round here is at an all time high as there are lots of very dry leaves on the forest.
So the hatches are now pretty much battened down for winter and just in time!
So now as I write this we have moved downstairs by the fire an spinning vinyl on my nice old fashioned two channel system downstairs by a log fire.
The long range forecast model is predicting much below normal temperatures for this winter.
