Sounds like you gave them a fair shake from the get go. You won't mind if I ban this duplicate account now?
I don't like the speakers so the mod. is gonna get me...........conflict of ?

I do accidentally have two accounts: iblong and paulsilkiner, which is my name. I am not hiding anything. I have not used paulsilkiner in years and have not posted anything any where from that account. Please delete the paulsilkiner account because I can not and your sites contact us links do not work.

I believe you have an issue, ban me all together, you will make a greater statement about these speakers than I ever could!

Thank you,

Paul T. Silkiner

Paul, thanks for the introduction, but can you explain what you didn't like about the speakers? The looks, the sound, etc? I mean, "plastic sound"?

That's exactly what I would like to know. I have yet to see any explanation.

Yes, a shiny finish may look like plastic to people who aren't used to highly polished furniture, but "plastic sound" still makes no sense without details.

I don't care if you like them or not, I am/was irritated that you cross posted the exact same text in all those threads. That's called spamming.

So that as many would see it as possible!
Let me suggest that your opinion on a pair of loudspeakers doesn't exactly qualify as Essential News That Must Be Read By Everyone!!!!1!

Paul that sucks the speakers didn't work out for you. I emailed the E-store staff to make sure they process your return as quickly as possible but they can't find any record of your purchase on file. If you bought directly from EMP, you will have to contact them.

Good luck on your search for speakers that better suit your needs.

My money's tight right now (post wedding -- no wealthy father-in-law to pay for stuff). However, if I had the money I would definitely find something to purchase at the Audioholics store. You guys definitely rock on the customer service front!

It was my fantasy b4 I met my wife to marry a rich girl but in the end LOVE prevailed over wealth. I've never been one for FREE handouts anyways. Being poor for a long period of time builds good character and reminds you of your roots. :D

I am Returning mine, plastic look, plastic sound. Talked to EMP today for a return autho number......this is a very expensive lesson!
Looks like he bought them direct from EMP.

Some people don't like a high gloss polyurethane or lacquer finish (I don't know if that is what these have), they can look plastic.

If you have speakers you really like and this is the issue, you can lightly rub with 0000 (called "four aught") steel wool to give them a satin finish. This is very fine steel wool which introduces "micro" scratches - too fine to identify as scratches. It diffuses the light and knocks down the gloss. As always, test on the bottom first. Also it is best to wait at least a week from when the finish was applied so it is cured. Usually that is not an issue, but in the case of the Impressions your speakers may not be that old. Again, the test on the bottom is the way to know. The finish will gum up if it is not cured.

PS - get the steel wool from a good paint store. If you buy from Harbor Freight, you will find that not all of the scratches are too fine to identify as scratches!:(

I've decided to stick with the towers only. I managed to show the wife the light that the improved aesthetics and low price were a good thing. Then I ran YPAO on my yamaha receiver and it filled in all the shortcomings these speakers had in my room. Now the sound matches the look 100% IMO. It really made a much bigger difference than I expected. Sadly our living room could handle 5.1, but she killed any idea of having the bookshelves mounted to the wall. And I kinda agree, they would be kinda distracting. Ahh the compromises of marriage, they never end :)

I highly recommend you consider some tSc On-wall speakers like the ones I reviewed or even the larger models. They should match well with your EMP towers and should also save your marriage in the process. Its a crime not to have surround sound when you're so close.

Yes and I believe that have a larger version the TSAT-2000 available now. These systems are a great value and look awesome as well. Very high WAF.

I would like to reply to two comments. First, the red burl does not look like real wood; it has a nice appearance but from what I've seen the black version looks more "real". With that said, I am happy with the red but I would have probably opted for the black (and in fact originally ordered black and wrote them and had my order switched).

2nd, I tried using the bookshelves as a main speaker in a 5.1 set up and was not too happy with their sound. The towers are quite impressive and have a great mid/high end (bass is adequate but you'll need a sub). NOTE: I had the bookshelf speakers setting on a mantel directly against a wall, being placed on stands the recommended distance from a wall would have probably helped. I bought them to use as surround speakers and believe they'll be fine in this capacity. My home theater will be complete in the next 2 weeks; I'll post a follow up review. Just my thoughts :)

I have 2 sets of towers in a new mini-theater room for two in the middle of Houston. I'd be glad to audition them for anyone interested in buying or reviewing. I think they sound really good, but am no professional reviewer.
