EMP R55Ti w/ marantz or denon

Looking to get a pair of EMPTek's R55Ti towers and was wondering which receiver would have better quality of sound with these towers.
Marantz SR7005 is rated at 125w @8ohms/195w @6ohms
Denon AVR 3312ci rated at 125w @8ohms/165w @6ohms
Seeing the R55Ti's are 6ohm I would think the higher rated Marantz at 6ohm would be the winner but also Denon 3312ci is no slouch either.
Anyone have any experience with either of these receivers?
Thanks

you should seriously reconsider your budget. getting budget towers with expensive avr will NOT be nearly as good as better speakers and cheap avr.
also I want to make an educated based on your username. you like to play none classical/jazz music at loud volume. If im right - its another good reason to look at different speakers.

I suggest we start over, tell us your overall budget and intended use and we'll suggest system based on these

I've used my Denon 3312 to drive Phil3, Focal 826, Dynaudio X32, Infinity P362 to very loud volume in my 18' x 20' family room in Direct 2.0 mode full range.

No problem at all.

The only problem is the heat production. You need to place 2 or 3 120mm USB fans atop the AVR.

As of now I have a basic Energy 5.1 take sub sat setup and have wanted to upgrade for some time, using a Yamaha RX-V571.
Budget is fairly tight,so that is one reason for the R55Ti's also EMP has a good return policy and at less than $700 it seems like a good start to get back into more mid fi.
As far as a solid AVR I can get the 3312ci for half price as well as the SR7005.
Another speaker brand that really caught my attention is Aperion.
Specifically the Verus Grands, with free shipping both ways and in home audition for 60 days. Will start with the front L/R and add a matching center and maybe a sub later.Probably going just 3.1
instead of 5.1.

3312ci and SR7005 are both great AVRs, but can you get ether of them as low as $400??
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00CALM2KS/ref=sr_1_2_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1422828471&sr=8-2&keywords=x2000&condition=used (amazon warehouse deal offer b-stock with same warranty as new)

As for speakers: Your Energy take 5.1 : Sat could be used for surround duty. sub is faily weak so possible 2.1 for pc sound??
You need new LCR and new Sub and your budget for this is very tight:
http://philharmonicaudio.com/aa.html
I recommend this set: 2x AA bookshelves with matching center and this sub:
http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-2mk4.html

Possibly stretching your budget - again keep in mind - the less spend on electronics and more on speakers = better sound.

Don't get stuck on avr specs! you'll be using 1-10W of power most of the time anyways

Thanks for the links on philharmonicaudio/HSU.
Seeing the phil AA line up is fairly cheap, how are they on sound quality? Can't find reviews on the AA's.I would even consider the towers and center as well as the hsu VTF-2.

What you need to know about AA are two things:
Very famous speaker Andrew Jones, whom designed the TAD $60,000 speakers, was tasked to create super budget speakers by Pioneer and very successfully done so creating huge disruption in 1k 5.1 systems with BS/FS speakers. Buying power of pioneer scale allowed ultra narrow budget and unheard performance at this price point.

However these speakers were not without issues - the tweeter selected was sub-optimal and could use an improvement. Another very talented speaker designed - Dennis Murphy saw the potential in these and also the issue. He came with with few small changes which enabled these already good speakers to sound great.
Look on our forums for tons of feedback on philharmonic speakers.

Now that were talking philharmonic's (AA's) would a Marantz avr be an affective match, say sr6008?
http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/marsr6008/marantz-sr6008-7.2-networking-home-theater-receiver-with-airplay/1.html?extra=a:2:{i:0;s:40:"03823345592a403b2f4a37a59384e7ab28f02be1";i:1;N;}
I emailed philharmonics for a shipping quote for 2/AA towers and a center.
Noisejunkie, at $580 or ~60% of your total outlay, you are grossly overspending on that Marantz. To reinforce what BSA is saying; to maximise audio performance (bang for your buck), your audio spend should be heavily biased towards the speakers.

So for instance, assuming you're looking at about $1000+ with AA shipping included, you should be looking at $700 - $750 for speakers and the balance on an AVR.

This AVR gives away little to the Marantz and is about what you should be spending: Accessories4less | DENON AVR-X1100W 7.2 4K Receiver with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay. The difference in price goes half way towards paying for the Hsu sub (or similar), which will lighten the load on the AVR and the speakers significantly.

I also recommend that you get monitors and sub initially. Then, if you really want towers, get them later on and move the monitors to surround duty.

consider this - 1year warranty on refub (like 6008 you linked) or full 3 year on b-stock
check out $518 unit by onecall. they are authorized denon reseller

Will consider that option.
Now that I've been introduced to more quality budget speakers, phil's and HSU.Had no idea there were such quality budget speakers out there.Got a quote for 2 AA towers and a AA center for $125,so $500 total shipped.
Kinda a gamble since I can't audition them first.
HSU, on the other hand is not super far from me,Anaheim,Ca.might be able to audition the MB-1 MK2 set up with a sub.
Man,this thread just went completely away from my original R55Ti interest.

AA's selling like hot cakes, so i think that Dennis will take them back if you don't like them.
I gotta say one thing towards emp, the finish on them blows these Aa/pioneer speakers away.
As for hsu bookshelves - i heard them in 2012. Can't say I hated them, can't say I was blown away. The horn tweetee makes them very forward and dynamic sound and its excellent for movies, however it also might be a not so much for music. It all depends on your main usage. Hsu subs i think in league of their own, especially the new vtf3 and vtf15h blow away the competition

I have the EMP 55's, which are for sale, and I'm driving them with a Yamaha A830 and have had NO problems. Despite being rated at 6 ohms they're fairly easy to drive.

I deffinetly see your point,I might just pull the trigger on phils's AA monitors and center and get a HSU STF-2 sub.Sell off my Energy sub sat and hold on to the Yamaha RX-V571 until I can figure out a better avr.

If you do slip up to Anaheim, you might consider dropping in to Ascend Acoustics at San Clemente on the way. Their SE range of speakers offer high performance for very reasonable prices. Their published measurements are excellent and their extra 3-4dB of sensitivity (over the Affordable Accuracy's) will come in handy, particularly if you hang onto the Yamaha for a while.

Both of these companies have audition rooms on the premises, but you will need to make appointments in advance.

You might be interested in checking out this current thread where the OP decided on an Ascend SE/Hsu Research combo after paying both fine outfits a visit.

Once again, thanks for that link to Acsends. They are for sure at the top of my list being that they are only 25min away from me.The CMT-340's w/center looks promising as well as the CMB-170's.Definitely within my budget.I will give them a call to set up an appointment to audition.
I will post back, with a new thread when I get everything sorted out.
Again, thanks to all that posted with great input and ideas.:D
