I was curious as to why on the online store here the EMP speaker package was $899 and when looking at the individual EMP 30 tower speakers that came with the package they are like $839.

Am I missing something or looking at the prices wrong?

EMP package

The package deal is about half of the regular retail price. If you are interested in the EMP floorstanders, I would jump on the package deal. I think shipping is included in the price.

They also have a great deal on the On-wall speakers for $100 each if that would work better in your system.

These are crazy package deals EMP is allowing us to run to help get the name out on their products. They are actually selling these systems below dealer cost but its only for the month of May while supplies last. This is truly the bargain of the year with respect to speaker deals.

can you upgrade the sub on that 5.1 system when buying on this site?

It's essentially free; I think it'd make a great sub for a second 2.1 setup. I'm really wishing I had a spare $900 right now. Jiminy, that's a good deal.

The new little e10s is quite a good performing sub for the money which in these cases costs nothing since EMP is essentially giving it away with these promotions as Zhimbo discovered.

These are the 3 hottest deals on the Audioholics E-Store right now but they will expire at the end of May.

I want to get one of these systems just for the towers to put in a 2 channel system, and I might as well get the 5.1 since the price is so low.

Am I correct in thinking that Tom feels that the EF30T is a better 2 channel setup than the EF50T? I would like to get the 30s based on his review, but according to the dimensions, they are honkin huge! The WAF is a big concern since they're going in our den. I'm currently trying some Mirage Omnisat FS V2 in the space, which she is ok with, but I don't care for their sound. I was thinking about DefTech BP7006 since they have powered subs built in.

I'd appreciate any input, especially as to these two speakers relative performance to each other and to the DefTechs. Also, for anyone who's seen the 30s, do they look huge?

The E30s definately have superior bass extension and play a bit smoother at high volumes but the E50s win out on cosmetics. Def techs are nice speakers but tend to be voiced much hotter in the top end whereas the EMP's are more laid back. It all depends on your preference. You could always try the EMP's out and send them back if you don't like them.

At these prices, its a smoking deal and I'd recommend convincing the wife on the E30s and how you can place some plants nearby to dress them up :D

I thought that was a ridiculously low price yesterday...wasn't sure if it was for market penetration or someone just dropped a pallet.

I might have finally gotten the okay from the wife to upgrade speakers, unless it was just a mean trick. She gets to book a cruise, I buy speakers.

My question isn't an easy one to answer I'm sure, but my idea was to order a pair of Aperion 6T's, and maybe Energy RC-70's or Axiom M80's to audition in home (and now the newer Mordaunt Short Mezzo's caught my attention, but there isn't enough out there on them that I feel comfortable ordering them yet). These speakers will easily cost twice as much, before I even figure in an Epik Valor, SVS, or MWF-15. So my question is, for the difference in money between the ones I was thinking of ordering and the EF30T's, would there be a decent enough performance gain to warrant spending that extra money? Or would the EMP's be a fair comparison?
Any thoughts??
Thanks

Thanks Gene.

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I'm not sure of what you mean by "voiced hotter" and "laid back". I guess that I'm not sophisticated enough in my listening to know the difference at this point. Would you mind elaborating a bit? For reference, I've had B&W 603 Series 2 as my mains in my home theater room for the last 7 years.

I'd like to take advantage of the 30 day audition, but my understanding is that the Audioholics store charges a restocking fee which kind of eliminates the audition possibilty for me. If my wife says no, the restocking fee will hurt.
