I would say $795 for a pair is a good deal.
I'm glad they finally came out with this larger version of the towers.

And they fixed the price. $795. I was thinking of getting the smaller versions btut i am thinking that the extra $300 now will mean i won't have to buy a new front set of speakers for that much longer.

I got my towers for $400 when they first offered them. That was a GREAT deal.

I got mine for $400 for the pair as well and cannot complain whatsoever after seeing the E55ti's for $800. An extra woofer and midrange for double the price??

Does anyone really think $300 more than the current E5ti's is worth it?

Now you are paying for a good bit more cabinet as well...I cannot tell a lie, I want to sell my E5Ti's for these. :)

Good point, the price is pretty justified, especially when thinking the original E5t's were supposed to be about $800/pair and that was still a pretty good deal for the quality.

Will a pioneer vsx-1019ah-k drive E55Tis?

I have been doing a lot of reading to find out which tower speakers to get to start replace the front channels of my Harman Kardan HKTS-14 system. Based on how the E5s were received, it seems like the E55Tis would be a significant step up. I also want to replace the center channel soon.

However, I am concerned that my pioneer vsx-1019ah-k is ill-equipped to handle such efficient speakers--the manual says it can handle 6 ohm speakers but a setting change is required. If it isn't up to the job, am I out of options with this receiver? There is a preamp out for the sub only, so I don't think I can use an external amp.

On a side note, any thoughts on how the E55Tis would work with the 12" sub that came with the HKTS-12?

I know my setup is pretty amateurish, but I want to make better buying choices going forward. I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Wow, these are a nice looking set of speakers for a very affordable price...

I was just about to drop money on new Axiom M60's along with a VP150 and QS8's...

Question is, I wonder how these compare to the axioms???

Quote from Gene:

"The good news is EMP is sending me their first pair for review. I plan on putting them up against a few hot internet direct speaker towers as I mentioned in another thread. This should be interesting."

Perhaps the Axiom's will be included in that little shootout, might want to PM Gene and see if he has selected the speakers.

first off don't change that setting leave it a 8ohms, your amp will be seriously be throttled back on power. i owned vsx-1014 and 1015 and never had a problem running 6ohm speakers. when i demoed the 55ti's at EMP today they were using their tiny 40watt tube amp and the 55ti's were really singing. i have a 12" inch sub (Ed A3-300) and no problems, the 55ti's have great bass extension so you can always lower the xover point until they play well together. BUY THEM!!!!!!! :D
