Considering that's where a major interactions occur you might want to map your room response. Sub 200hz down to about 25hz plays a huge role in HT, music varies to lower response depending on type

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. What I was saying is that I can't EQ below 200 Hz just using Sub EQ as my fronts are also active between 80 hz and 200 Hz.

Emotiva and Outlaw aren't better than Denon.

When it comes to SQ I think my Krell Pre-pro beats them, including Denon. I can't say anything about Emotiva but I did own 2 Denon AVR's in the past, I would have to say Outlaw is way better than Denon.

Are you referring to the Sherbourn SR-8100? Sherbourn was a sister company of Emotiva's - both under the umbrella of Jade Design. Sherbourn is no longer in existence. If that's who you're thinking of, Emotiva had plenty to do with its design.

No, I thought there was another company involved, but I just did another search and came up with nothing, so maybe it was Sherbourn after all. I am aware of Sherbourn's history and how they folded a while ago now.

At any rate, anyone interested in this unit should be aware that it has fans, not one or two, but three! So if you want to install it in a shelf with little airflow, they might be an issue.

I should get the $100 miniDSP mic and do REW graphs once I get my RBH speakers. But at the same time, I'm thinking why do I really care so much about the graphs if I am getting the best sound by comparing Bypass vs Audyssey vs Audyssey Flat?

Even if Audyssey or Audyssey Flat produces the flattest most perfect graphs, I would still use Bypass if that happens to give me the best sound anyway.

The other question is, what if both Bypass & Flat produce the best sound equally? Would I then choose the one with the flattest frequency response or still use Bypass?

If I knew which one produces the best looking REW graphs before I compare their sound, would that introduce bias? Would I think Audyssey or Flat sound best because I already knew how they measured?

I think you're right on that one. Behringer amps don't sound any different that ATI amps (what a waste of money on them ATI's). I think you got a good point, there is no debate on that at all. All Pre-pros sound the same and all power amps sound the same. I do have do agree with you on that. When did you get into HT. I bought my first sub in 1973.

I got into serious audio when I was in pharmacy school in 1992 and received a $500 monthly scholarship spending stipend to fund by hobby.

I admit most things in audio are a waste of money. But I spend the money anyway because I guess it makes me happy.

Whether or not I think a Krell or ATI sounds better than a Crown is another story. I think a few speakers are more difficult to drive and lesser quality amps may suffer in certain cases. But in most cases, most amps will sound just fine with most speakers.

It depends on how curious you are. Also, everything may sound great to you now, but you may still be able to improve things.
