Just got the same announcement and it seems to be another beast, indeed!

Have read the tech specs and it doesn't mention though, but if you read the back panel shot, it's printed a 3500W power consumption, which means you'll need a 20A breaker to feed the beast safely.

Pricewise, I'd say it'll be another big-hit, considering it's tech specs though.

Does indeed look like an awesome amp but who needs 400 w/ch???

It sure looks much better than earlier versions.
I'll bet it would work fine on a 15 amp breaker. Since it's a rare event that would have all five channels loaded long enough to heat up a breaker to the point of tripping.
Though I shouldn't talk, I've run 20-Amp circuits to all my stuff.:D
Edit: 107-lbs shipped.

Emotiva's test reports show that the sub-1W distortion is pretty high relative to some Class AB amps. Compare the curves, for example, to Emotiva's own results for the XPA-1. This is where is Gene's beloved Pass Labs amps really shine (because Nelson designs them that way). I think it is reasonable to question just how audible these differences are, and you can buy ten Emotiva's for the price of a mid-line Pass product, but I'd probably go a different way than the Emotiva if I had very revealing speakers. But that's just me.

I like the looks of it a lot more than the XPA series and if it measures like previous models that Audioholics tested, it should be a stout performer. I'm just not sure why I would need 400-600 watts in all 5 channels (other than just to say that you do). I don't have the surrounds THAT loud... :p

I guess if you have the same power hungry speakers all around for a multichannel music setup, it makes some sense. But if it came to that, I'd probably be looking at higher efficiency speakers or a stack of Yamaha or Crown pro audio amps (like a 3 pack of Crown XLS 2000's for $300 less) first.

107-lbs shipped.
But you get free shipping in the lower 48 states! :D
