I am waiting for delivery of this amp just a few questions about complete system hookup to electrical, here's what I have so far,for the amp I have installed a 20A line just for the amp, next to that receptacle I have a 15A line just for the rest of my ht componets, tv panel hd A-35,bd1400,motorola HD box for TV,pioneer thx1015,all plugged into my APC-H15 on the 15A circuit alone nothing else,to the far right of my componets will be my sub this will be plugged into another 15A circuit that runs around my room its not solo like the others but there wont really be anything else plugged into this circuit except the occasional vacum or laptop, now my questions since the xpa gets its own 20A line do I need another surge protector device for that unit, and with the sub in its own receptacle on a circuit seperate from the others will I create a ground loop issue ,now all this electrical work is brand new and all three circuits go to the same proven common ground. Thanks in advance for any comments and or thoughts..

First Congrats on the XPA.:D That is a very similar set up to my room. I have a 20a dedicated for my MPS and another 20a for my other gear. My sub is on another circuit that is shared with 2 other outlets. I have no ground loop issues. I'm not sure if the common ground will help but I'm sure it will not hurt.

Emotiva recommends their gear be plugged directly into the outlet without any surge or conditioning devices. Lonnie explained to me this was for two reasons. The first was the amp has its own internal protection that would stop it from being damaged from a surge or outage. The second was that many conditioners or surge protectors will limit that amount of voltage coming in which would limit the amount of juice your amp could pull. This would limit the output and dynamic range of the amp.

Since all the electrical work is new, and done professionally, I think you'll be ok, as far as ground loops are concerned.

I have the same amp, you can use a surge protector if you'd like. Just make sure it's a 20A version.
You won't be anywhere the full ampacity of a 20A circuit or 20A surge protector with that amp.

Hey Hey, mine will be here tomorrow as well.....

One thing I will suggest is that both the 20 amp circuit and the 15amp circuit are running on the same PHASE in your electrical panel...

Check this out as it is quite important and will help to eliminate issues as far as interference and humming..... Your electrician will know exactly what I am talking about. Both lines should be fed by the same leg. Your panel has 2 legs and a neutral coming in. Both of those circuits should be fed by the same hot leg.

Just a note, I am running 2 - 2500w pro amps, on each 20 amp circuit.

You will have no issues with that XPA-5 and all your other equipment including your sub on a single 20 amp circuit, but spreading the load across both circuits would be optimum...

Enjoy your new amp my friend..

It's getting closer.
The UPS hub is in a town about 15 minutes away.
The last time I checked, it was out for delivery today!

Its funny that all three of you involved are getting your amps on the same day. Dawg is chomping already. I'm sure we'll hear from Warp as soon as he gets his as well.
