To be honest, I'm not totally happy with the last 7.02.05 BETA version I loaded. It keeps switching between audio decoders when I switch channels on my DISH receiver. I was hoping this would fix that.
Don't think I've ever had that issue, but I have DirecTV. I definitely don't have it with the latest firmware.

And since I already had the latest DSP and front panel code, this time I only had to flash the UMC code. Worked on the first try and took all of about 5 minutes. :D

I've updated to the newest firmware and have not noticed any center channel dropouts, but I didn't have any with the previous version either. For me, the latest update was worth it just for the faster volume ramp up when the unit is turned on. Other than the remote being a little tempermental, it has been working well for me.

I notice that if I pause and resume play on a movie the UMC-1 will sometimes come back with no center Chanel audio at all. Should I update to the new 7 firmware?
It could just be a conicidence but I don't believe I had audio drop outs with the last firmware release. With this latest version, I've had them a few times. So they seemed to have fixed the problem and then brought it back. At least for my set up.

I just downloaded the newest firmware, but noticed it requires you to have the new billet remote. I never got one :(

According to Emotiva, all you have to do is request the remote, and they will ship you one.:D

Not according to Lori with whom I just spoke at Emotiva. She escalated me to a technician, but the first answer was that I'd need to A) ship the receiver back on my dime and B) pay $50 for the remote too.

After having shipped my LMC-1 back to Emotiva 4 (or maybe it was 5 times, I lost track) for a different, but repetitive issue - I'm quite disinclined to pay out another ~$125 in order to simply update the unit. So much for my 40% off loyalty benefit if this is the route I'm forced to take.

Will keep posted once the tech calls me back - which is going to be Monday now as they closed before he got to my case.

Sad panda with Dolby drop-out issues :(

Maybe that was a while ago. I know my UMC-1 came with the plastic remote, and I requested a metal one, and they sent it. It may have been a special promo I forgot about.

I'm hopeful that it's just an unpublished customer sat. resolution... if I'm asked to pay $125 in order to update my receiver to function per published spec... well, I can't see how the heck that would be a 5yr warranty then?

We'll see how they address this and as I mentioned, I will follow up once I talk to the tech on Mon.

WOW! I hope not. Those updates should be covered. You may have to pay shipping. I hope it works out for the best?

Should be a happy ending here - Called and spoke w/ Emotiva Tech. and they said that since I had a first release unit, I should have *already* been contacted and received a metal remote... Umm, nope.

I can update the software myself and the new remote is on its way via fedex.

No out of pocket cost to me, and a well handled discussion w/ the tech (he was really surprised about the lack of the remote and said that they'll get that remedied immediately). I received a fedex confirmation email within 90 minutes from Emotiva - how's that for service?

Just wanted to ensure I followed up and closed the loop here.

Sounds like typical Emotiva service. If you use a Harmony remote you will need to delete the UMC-1 from your devices and then go back in and add it again. It will then load the new codes so the Harmony works with the new firmware. Very simple and because the new remote has dedicated input buttons no need to scroll any more when changing. You will like some of the fixes even if everything worked for you before.

I'm happy it worked out for you. I knew something didn't sound right, about you not getting a remote. I LOVE that remote too, quick access to audio adjustments, without going through all the motions.:D And, yes they are QUICK at shipping, even when you didn't buy the piece they send out to you. I never had as much confidence in a company, as EMOTIVA.

You left out the part where you could use it to beat home invaders should the situation arise! :p
