Emotiva DMC-1 Preamp-Processor Review

I'm a little confused by the bass management note in the review. If you set the Center/Surround crossover at XHz, then you will lose XHz-120Hz from the LFE channel? Why would this ever happen, since the LFE channel should be independent of the crossovers, I thought.

Well, now it comes with an external HDMI 2x1 switcher controlled by RS-232 for no additional cost. Not too shabby!

Can you use the HDMI switcher on any receiver or pre/pro with an RS-232 port?

Well, since I'm not a representative of the company I can't say. A quick check didn't find any technical info, but I'd wager it's an OEM. They don't sell it separately, so I don't know if they're publishing the control codes, but I'm sure they would be available from whoever the manufacturer is.

Does anyone else have any info on this? I think it would help many with different receivers or pre/pros without HDMI ports. Could be an excellent market for AV123 if the decide to release it and it's compatible.

Something like Velodyne did with the SMS-1, make it for there unit then realize there is an entire market just waiting for something like this to happen.

The HDMI switcher will require a software update (one that users can do at home) to the DMC-1 in order for it to operate seamlessly with the unit. Therefore, the switcher is not simply "plug-and play". This makes sense as the switcher autmatically changes to the appropriate source when that source is selected.
