There am rarely happy when bad things happen to other people.... however this is one of those times. Elliot Spitzer spent years convincing people that he had high moral standards and was infallible- he made a successful political career out of it. It's nice to see the arrogant jerk go down hard.

To quote the president of the US Chamber of Commerce about Spitzer's approach as NY attorney general ""the most egregious and unacceptable form of intimidation we've seen in this country in modern times"

What makes the situation the craziest for me- he used to prosecute these exact kinds of cases!! He's been on prostitution stings where they had wire taps. Why would he CALL for a hooker??? It's the ultimate act in stupidity- not that it wouldn't be for anybody, but especially for a man who A) was a prosecutor and B) is a governor.

This isn't a Gary Hart or Bill Clinton situation where the man just cheated on his wife... he got caught trying to pay to have sex in another state!!

nobody here said anything about him being a Dem. so I don't know why you would have to go on the offense make it seem the conservitives were worse. Do you have a problem with them 1. cheating 2, being gay or 3. that they are Republican.

That's what I cannot get over... he knows how these types of operations are set up!!

Not sure if you've all seen some of the news that came out this morning, but the they gave more details as to how they caught him. Turns out the Feds noticed some very large movements of money going on between some of his accounts (as a publicly elected official they have some sort of access) and they were worried about bribery or even extortion. It was only when they investigated further that they found that the money was going to hookers.

To 10010011- Dem or Republican- who cares. Neither of the first 2 men you mentioned did anything illegal. The worst "crime" they could have committed would have been adultery (not sure if they were married), so personally I'm not sure why those issues needed to be turned into scandals. The reason Jim McGreevey (former Dem NJ governor) had such a scandal was not because he was involved in a gay affair, but because it was with a high ranking lobbyist and there were conflicts of interest.

It's a sad thing whenever a public figure falls like this. To be honest, my fear is that our children get desensitized to it. It's good to see that, despite politics or viewpoint, everyone agrees that what he did was at least wrong.

My thought though is that she has every reason to look like a smashed up bag of tater tots next to her lying, cheating, pompous, hypocrite jacka$$ husband who just basically publicly humiliated her and his entire family, and threw his entire career down the toilet right in front of her. Sure, we're all victims of any public figure's mockery of the position they've been elected to, but she is the victim that has to live every waking moment with it.

Adam's video does help put her in a bit better light too - she's really not that bad for a woman her age.

Yeah you're right, I hope privately she isn't a pompous *** like her husband. He's an idiot at best a criminal at worst, I feel bad for their kids, what they have to bear for their father's sin. I think we all come down so hard on politicians when they crash because on the way up they shower us with anecdotes of how much they love their families, how much they're going to do for us, how much we can trust them in office and on and on. I agree Halon. My opinion is that he is undeserving of such a woman. Sack of potatoes? Clearly, some "man" wrote that. If she's a sack of potatoes, what does that make him? I understand that's not for me to decide, but I've said it before and I'll say it again:

If one betrays the trust and love in that person who they love most, what will they not do? I mean, if you treat your friends this way... Forgiveness is great...it's a gift. However, this cretin is never to be trusted again (imho).

Well, I think Strat was just aiming for an off-hand remark for humor's sake - I do agree with you John, I would expect our politicians to be held to the highest standard of all. In life you have arrogance, you have those with power, you have those with none. It is when you combine arrogance with power then do you truly create a dangerous situation. He made his bed of nails, and now he has to lie in it. I just find it peculiar when politicians forget that it is supposed to be they who are serving us and not the other way around.

Who was it above - Strat? - that commented as to it's no wonder we're all so cynical these days? I couldn't agree more. It seems like every day you're waking up and hearing another case of a politician's fall from grace in a myriad of different ways and methods.
