Elemental Designs.... don't bother about their customers

There's been this long thread about AV123 and lack of customer focus.

This lack of customer focus also is relevant to Elemental Designs, from what I see.
Why do companies like this just don't care about customers....
So who the hell do they think they are.... they can just proclaim themselves to be so good and they don't even care a **** about the customers...... Perhaps I'm unfair as this not relates to ED but their local distributor, but still he represents ED

I Sent them some questions about making custom sub cabinets some two weeks ago, coz I want to make this now.... no answer at all, and I sent a reminder 4 days ago, and absolute silence....

So companies like this that don't even bother to reply to emails from potential customers should be buried and sent to silence.... in today's world, this is not good enough

So what I have to say to Elemental Designs: Shame on you !
Or more correct: ED local distributor "midgard audio" http://www.midgardaudio.no

Call ED direct, bypass the distributor.

Edit: Actually, if your looking to just have custom boxes done I don't see where that falls on ED at all? Midgard audio is only a distrubtor, I'm sure they build the boxes locally, not through ED.

Good point, but still, they have a distributor here that just don't do his job....
Perhaps I'm too rude about this, but if somebody makes me angry.......

And obviously this guy will be bad to Elemental Designs around here, so they won't sell subs around here with a guy who don't care about customers.......

He is proclaiming about sales and prices, but never answers emails, how is that for business.....
If anyone in ED reads this, you need a new distributor around here !!!!!!!!!!

Get a hold of ED and tell them about it, I'm sure they can apply some pressure.

Dont forget that there are quite a few qualified builders of both speakers and subs right here in AH just ask and I am certain you will get all the answers you need. ;)

You are not wrong to be annoyed. When a company gives you a means to communicate with them, they should follow through with the commitment, even if it is to tell you that they don't offer what you are looking for.

I had the same issue with RBH and it has permanently eliminated them from my list. If/when it comes time to upgrade, I will look to those companies that took the time to respond to me.

I've had great experiences when calling eD directly, just bypass the local distrubutor. But if you need an enclosure built, check with some local cabinetmakers, that way you will likely get the enclosure quicker, and won't have to pay a lot for shipping.

I would prefer that you:

Call out the distributor and simply send an email to eD. They may not know what that distributor is doing or not doing in the first place.

Alex Thank you for your response, and....

Sometimes I use much too strong words !!!
And this communication was not fair from my side, really sorry about that

Anyways I ended up ordering two A7-450S though the same distributor, your Norwegian distributor. So now I just rely on things to sort out.

I will send you an email about what happened, and I'm sure everything works out very fine.

Anyways it's not optimal that distributors only respond when they get an order and not respond to requests about product options.

regards

Harald N

I would be very interested in seeing the email.

I would agree. Thats no way to get ahead. Even the smallest email should be answered.

Thank you and Im sorry for the issues you had with Midgard.

For the record I purchased an eD sub (of course I am in the States) about 1.5 years ago and it was a great experience and a terrific product. I recommend eD products all the time and have always been impressed by their commitment.

And a really good distributor knows that. When I did distribution sales, my best dealers were in Europe. At that time, Europeans seemed to understand service much better than North Americans.

This thread has nothing at all to do with Elemental Designs.

I've had a long pleasant email conversation with Alex Lindeman from Elemental Designs and it is only a potential distributor in Norway that is at issue here.

From what I know now Elemental Designs is an excellent company that is very focused about what's best for the customers !!!!!!!!!

So once again I would like to apologize for this "blowout" from my side!

I never bought any eD home theater products, but have had nothing but very positive experiences with their 12v stuff.

Elemental Designs has customer service issues

Yes Alex is watching these boards quite well. We'll see how long my complaint stays on here. I regrettably bought an eD A5-350. It caught on fire and their response was to send me a so called new plate amp that had a screw missing, a loose bolt, and finger prints all over it. It was defective from the minute I installed it and the eD subwoofer speaker itself has been damaged from when the first amp caught on fire. Alex at eD has ignored emails and has lied to me about me even being a customer and stated my unit was out of warranty until I found my paperwork to prove otherwise. Then he blamed me for the problem. I'm not an idiot. This is definitely not the first powered sub I've owned, yet this is the first one to have non-stop problems. I am in process of filing a small claims suit against Elemental Designs for denying my requests for warranty service. I have pictures of the char broiled amp that eD admits has issues which is why they've discontinued this amp on this model. Now I paid extra to upgrade from the LT/350 to the LT/550 and they want $125 to replace it with a downgraded 300 watt amp while under warranty! Do not purchase from this company! Do your homework, and on unbiased sites. If the forums contain the users Chris and Alex, well they run Elemental Designs and are gonna brag up their junk and lie their butts off. You've been warned!

Oh man, I feel for you man!!

I will say this though, eD makes excellent quality subwoofers. Everything about this screams quality. They put a lot of money and effort into both performance and durability. I've never seen a subwoofer this heavy at this price range. (due to all the bracing and wood thickness)

I'm very confident that my sub (A2-300) will last a very long time. All in all I'm one extremely satisfied customer.

I went through the problem with the Amp on the A5-350 and they handled it admirably... I would buy again and have no problem referring them.

I wish they would handle my problem admirably. But unfortunately they have chose not too. As far as their product being of good quality, that is a matter of opinion. Read the full subwoofer review post on this site from mike c. He experienced the problems of eD as well. Also there are other threads on this site mentioning their amplifiers catching on fire. I've given Alex at eD until Friday evening to reply with a tracking number to let me know that a new subwoofer speaker and a new plate amp are on the way, otherwise off to court we go. And as far as them being the best bang for the buck....consider this. The eD subs pride themselves on making awesome cabinets with heavy materials and bracing. Yet then the install a crappy amp, sloppy sub, and plastic ports. Then they finish the unit off in an unattractive rubber coating. eD is a company known for making custom cabinets for cars, not attractive home audio products. Their amps aren't made by them. The subs are questionable. And for $100 LESS money you can buy the an MFW15 powered subwoofer which is attractive, not ugly, and well built with an appropriate slotted port instead of a rattling plastic port. Oh yeah, and it has 50 more RMS watts of power than the current A5-350! So I'm getting one of these!!
