Has anyone used them or reviewed them? What is the census on them compared to other brands like Martin Logan (Motion Series) or Magnepan or Polk Lsi series? I am asking in bookshelves under $1000/pair.... what would you recommend? I am going to be using them mainly 40% music, 30% movies/TV, 30% PS3 games..

I haven't seen the reviews yet, but in general frequently horn designs sound harsh and fatiguing to many people, however on the other side they are very dynamically capable and very easy to drive.

1000/pr? http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/cmt340m/cmt340m.html
and add Emotiva Ultra 12 subwoofer

I don't need a subwoofer; I already have one....
a) One is not always enough

b) Since you didn't mentioned your existing equipment and room dimensions and I not a prophet - I'll hold off any new suggestions

Sure.... I will list all my equipment:

1) 50" Panasonic 720P plasma
2) PS3 (games/music/BD player) hooked up digitally
3) Onkoyo SR 574 Receiver
4) Elemental Designs A2-300 (12" sub with 200 W RMS).... I am not very bass heavy person
5) ED A6-MTM as my surrounds...

Room is basement around 14x17 with carpet flooring. Room is a rectangular shape with no irregularities. Plan is to go 5.1 at most; but stereo listening for most music..

Question: I'm don't have ps3 - can it send BD TrueHD/DTS HD as Multichannel PCM ? I guess it does... but i'm not 100% sure.

Regarding speakers for $1000 - I think a pair of Infinity P363 Towers and PC351 Center - total $600 Still leave you room for this AVR with support for new BD Codecs.

I listened to those long time ago and wasn't impressed. I liked Polks RTi a lot more. I don't need a ton of output; I just want clear life-like sound. I will leave the AVR upgrade to next summer.

Well the design goal of the eD Cinema series is high efficiency and tons of output. Horn tweeters and pro drivers = SPL.

Hmm, I didn't like ANY Polks before LSi series... But YMMV.
Ascend CMT-340 is great speaker, much better than both polk and infinity and it has a matching center - all 3 pieces are only slightly above your 1k budget, but I think you'd be impressed ...
