Ok well i just spent the whole day looking for speakers on the internet. Not i can't decide which one to pick, so i need your suggestions and i'd like to hear if anyone had experience with those speakers.

The speakers will be hooked on a HDTV in my room. Will be used 75% to watch movies and 25% to listen music. No gaming at all.

I'm open to hear more suggestions, but my budget is around $150.... $180 is really the maximum i'm willing to spend

Looks like you've narrowed your choices down to 2.1 computer speaker systems - did you look at any 2.0 or 5.1 systems, or soundbars?

Also, what is the size of your room?

Not really interessed into 5.1 system, not enough place in my room for it.... Sound bar may be a good option but i havent found any good sound bar.... I'm also scared that my remote can't reach the TV if i put the sound bar in front of it...

I like bass, so that's why i prefer 2.1 system instead of 2.0

Yes i would prefer an optical input as i always used optical signal, but if i can find something good with RCA inputs it will be fine with me...

Don't let watts ratings confuse you - most Multimedia speakers which you mentioned do "tricks" to show high ratings, like 24h life time on laptops
basically playing at their stated max is only possible for very short time AND it'll sound very distorted.

These behringers will produce up max 110db SPL (at 1m/pair) - just for reference Home theater system rarely go louder than 90db SPL and 120db SPL is damaging for human ears...
In addition they play as low as 50Hz - very respectable for relatively small speakers and it's touching the area usually sub play

But you still insist on comparing watts - pair of these speakers rated at peak power 150W for a pair


$180 for both. Ask Zzounds and MAYBE you could them at $180 shipped.

Well according to what i have read, the logitech Z-2300 sub is the same one than Z-5500. I own a Z-5500, this is my main home cinema speakers in my living room and i am really satisfacted with their big subwoofer!!!

but if i add a sub, i suppose i will need some kind of amplifier to link it with my speakers ?

We are talking here about low-level signal from source. Don't worry about signal loss, unless you make 100ft cable runs

True - both will have amps, but getting them to blend together would be easier with a receiver. If the sub has a variable crossover dial, that's certainly better than if it doesn't. Otherwise, both the speakers and the sub would be playing some of the same frequencies (at the lower end of the speakers and the upper end of the sub), which might not sound great.

PL-200 has variable crossover, but no low-level output, in fact I did quick search and couldn't find affordable sub with this feature. I figured that should be enough ...

Hmmmm somebody just talked me about Sony Floor Standing Speakers... i didn't consider floor standing speakers until today.... looks interessing

This one looks very cool and not too expensive:

However i am a bit scared because all of the reviews says the speakers are very boomy on the bass, lack details and clarity, and you have to continuously turn volume up and down to hear the dialogs, then turn it down in action scenes...

so i wonder if i should invest in a Sony SSF-7000 or put my money into a Polk or Energy system (more expensive).....
.....Or just stick with my computer speakers idea ?

P.s: I'm not big fan of 95% of Sony audio products, they do have a hidden gem once in a while, but most of the time they are below average at best...

p.s: Issues with understanding dialog for most part are due bad speaker placement

i'm thinking about getting this one but i dont know if it will be enough.... It says 100 watts per channel and i think my speakers are 200 watts...

For speakers, I don't rely on Amazon user reviews.

By a quick check on my part, 88% of inexpensive speakers on Amazon (I chose the range of $125 to $250) have a 4-star or better rating. That seems awfully generous.

I don't have an opinion on the Sony, but I would look elsewhere for meaningful reviews of speakers.
