Dynaudio Excite (anyone heard them yet?)

Just came across these while surfing around and my only complaint is that the price range is pretty damn huge. They go from $850 for the center to $3600 for their top of the line tower. How do these fit in when compared to the Focus line?

I have had Dynaudio in my studio for 6 years now and I have yet to be unhappy with them. I listened to their top of the line audience speakers and they sound amazing as well.I think these are a slightly lower line than the focus line.

I was reading on another forum where someone was comparing the new SVS MTS speakers to the Dynaudio Focus series. The Dyno dealer is 4 hours from me and I have never had or taken the opportunity to go audition for myself.

A forum member on the SoundandVision forum offered to pass a set of Dynaudio Focus 140s/110s. But because of forum political issues I have decided to pass on the offer.

The Excite series is slated for release mid to late June and since DYNAUDIO USA is actually based in Chicago, chances are all four dealers here might get them first. I spoke to dynaudio myself and they said to give it till the end of month: realistically around 4th of July weekend as the dealers themselves need sufficient BREAK-In time prior to shiwcasing these babies. The Rep at dyn said that the EXCITE will replace the Audience line, hence it will b their entry level speakers. The focus 220($3200) will still be more musical and refined but the X36($3600) will be more dynamic and will play louder. The excite is also more efficient so you really dont need a powerful amp to run it. So they say if your more into movies vs music then the excite is the way to go.I'll definitely be auditioning these vs the FOCUS and vs the contour line and will let you guys know what I think:cool:

Wow Dynaudio drivers are already known for being very dynamic and can take gobs of power so now I am very intrigued by this new line. I found the Focus 140 to be a little shy in the bass department but then again most people think this about neutral speakers.

Dude have you heard the 25 Specials from dyn? The bass is ridiculous considering its size! I thought it had more upfront base vs the contour 3.4s!!!!:D

Those are really nice looking speakers. I only heard Dyn's years ago and thought they were stunning. Simple yet elegant is how I would desribe them.

Excite X36

The dynaudio dealer by me just got the x36 in their show room and had approx 16 hrs of play time. I auditioned them vs the focus 220.It stood around 6 inches taller than the focus and was wider and deeper in size than the focus.Musically, the x36 is more dynamic and forward with deeper bass but I found to be brighter than the focus. I thought that the focus excelled more in its smoothness especially in tunes with piano as the main instrument and is more truthful when reproducing female voices. At this point I will not give the verdict as the x36 was not even fully broken in yet. But it sounded really promising. I will be returning this weekend for round 2 and this time I'll bring more cds to test them out with:)

What did you think of the midrange of the X36 since they have that dedicated driver? Did you find it more detailed than the Focus line?

The midrange for the X36 was good but its really hard to really decern its true potential as the speakers are not even broken in yet. To me, the Focus is a lot smoother and less bright.
