Dynaudio Confidence 3 - worth repairing?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a pair of Dynaudio Confidence 3's for a very good price ($1500). Turned out that the very low price was due to the ex owner burning one of the woofers and replacing them with the much cheaper versions used in the Audience series (form factor is identical but that's where the resemblance ends). I contacted Dynaudio and they said that the C3 version woofer costs $1000. That's basically the price of a pair of new decent bookshelves.
I'm convinced that sound-wise it's well worth it but I'm sure that one day I'll want to upgrade I'm questioning how "marketable" these speakers will be in a few years. I'll have to sell them for at least $2000 to justify the expense. So the basic question goes like this: would you buy a pair of Dynaudio C3's for say $2300?

I would probably just demand that the original seller give me a refund.

If it's worth your enjoyment, then you should do it. Or return it.

Don't think about resale value; chances are by the time you want to sell it, it won't be worth much regardless.
