DVI Vs. Component...

I have a dish network HD box. My TV (Zenith 44" LCD) has a DVI input. I currently have a component video hookup from the Dish box to the TV. Will I see any big advantage by hooking up through the DVI port instead?

You may want to ask the dish people if their DVI is operating.
If the cable length is not long, you can get a DVI cable for not much, less than $20 and experiment which you prefer better.
If the dish has true digital video, it doesn't have to process it to analog and the tv back to digital pixels, that may be an advantage in some cases.

Fixed pixel displays (Plasma, LCD, DLP, etc.) are said to look the best when fed signal at their native resolution. This is because in this situation the TV's scaler is not called on to do signal processing.

If your STB is capable of outputing video at your TV's native resolution, it might be worth the effort to see the difference. If not, it will be a hit or miss. It depends on if your TV has a good inbuilt scaler.

My cable box has DVI and component. Right now, I'm running the component to my Sharp 37" LCD and it looks great on a few channels, in INHD and Discovery HD Theatre, but some just look ok. I have a DVI to HDMI cable, and I might try that out to see if there's any difference.
