DVI -> Component vs. VGA -> Component

I have seen DVI to component adapters and VGA to component cables (in my case, PC -> HDTV). I understand DVI is superior to component. My question is: is the loss of quality with a DVI -> Component adapter on par with the VGA one? In the end, will they output the same quality picture or will the DVI->component one be superior? Thanks

My understanding is that DVI and VGA connections operate in the digital domain and are limited to 480p. Component connection operate in the analog domain. There really shouldn't be any comparison as DVI allows the conversion process to be done on the monitor which is presumably superior to that found in most DVD players. Component signals often have to be converted back to digital so the monitor can do some upscaling prior to converting back to analog. So you have double conversions.
