DVI cables

I'm running a DVI cable, and was wanting to know what the differences between the standard DVI and the one with a normal DVI end and a smaller one? Bothe are DVI cables.

The one you describe is more than likely a HDMI->DVI/DVI->HDMI cable.

I can run both to my tv, which one would be the best?

Neither - they carry the same video data. Audio can be carried on HDMI as well, but if you aren't using your TV for audio, then HDMI or DVI will work equally well for video.
