The 45a lacks a digital video out of any kind, and its bass management is questionable.

I demoted mine to my 2CH system when I got a denon 3910 for the HT room. With an ICBM, the 45a is a fine audio player, though.

I can't say enough about the 3910, but it is out of your stated price range.

Most of the Denon players score quite high in progressive tests. I've spent quite a bit of time with 2 of them, the 2200 and 2900 and both are excellent players. I was very impressed with the picture quality of the 2200 and the 2900 is a step up from that. I don't think the 1920 has been tested yet, but going on past experience, and friend's reviews, I'd say it's a good choice. What display device are you using?

i have a panasonic 42" PLASMA HDTV

ive been readin up on some players and i think ill squeeze out the extra
bucks for the DENON 2200 or 2900

what is the diff between these 2?price is almost the same.

i figure the extra $ would keep me from wanting to upgrade in the next few years and from what ive read the denons are exc dvd players as well as audio.

The 2900 is a little better in the video department, but not by much. The audio is more noticable, but if you aren't a serious audiophile, the 2900 probably won't be enough of an improvement and the 2200 actually had slightly better bass management than the 2900. The 2900s are likely cheaper because there are more of them around on the used market.

The 2200 is a great choice. I'm loving mine & would presume any of their models will do well. Since the 2200 is now obsolete, you can probably find them at good prices.

Since your priority is video performance, the 2200 would be a good choice, it has pretty much the same video section as the Denon 2900. The differences between them are mostly in the audio section.
