Ok Gary, here are the tests. and actually I tested the Taiyo Yuden twice with the same results. The Plextor Professional Error checking program is quite trustworthy.
The First pic is the Ritek That I sent you (same pic as above post) Burnt at 4X.
The second picture is your burn of the Maxell (G05) And even though there is 5 times the errors than on my burn, it is still acceptable. And should play in all your players. Here is the exact media code for that one.

The third picture is of your true Taiyo Yuden Disc. Remember I checked this twice, with same results. There are POE errors, which are uncorrectable. And may have problems even in your parents player. Remember when I spoke with you I checked how far the spikes actually went, and they were above 1,000. But to be fair to all the media tried, I set error limit exactly what standards calls for which is 280. Actually I can not set the black line at 280 (the program has this set) I just showed them all at 300. Here is the exact media code for that disc.

So clearly you are not getting the best burns, but you are getting better burns with your Ritek media, So I suggest getting true Ritek RiData Branded G05. And since they all play in your parents, then I guess there is something wrong with the Sony, and its time to invest in another DVD player. Hope this has all helped.
