just a quick question, i have an old lg dvd player hooked
through my pioneer amp and accusound speakers. would an upgrade
to a new dvd player produce better sound quality??. i have it hooked via coax digital, it sounds good but i feel it could be better. thanks

Unless that Lg is just hangin in there, I'm thinking no....want a noticeable sound improvement? >> get a sub instead ;)

aussie yep, already got sub etc, just thought a new dvd player via optical could improve it even more, will sound from a bluray player make a massive improvement if hooked into my pioneer vsx917??

Yes Blu-ray will make a noticeable difference, but only if your receiver can decode the new formats or has multichannel analog inputs that you could use with a player that has decoding. Via optical, the DACs in the receiver are being used, so the difference would not be worth an upgrade IMO, however a good upscaling player might improve your picture quality.

Coaxial is the way to go...it doesn't fall out, and yes they offer the same sound because they pass the same digital signal.
