Dvd Player's Upconversion To 720p, 1080i, 1024p

I Recently Saw Add Of Toshiba Dvd Player Sd-5970. This Dvd Do Upconversion 480i Signal To 720p, 1080i Or 1024. Is This Feature Is Useful. Are There Any More Dvd Palyers Like This.

The Panasoinc S97. I just picked one up b/c they are cheap ($250). It upconverts 480p to 720p or 1080i if you use the HDMI output. I use it at my desk on a Sharp Aquos 26" LCGD6U. The images look fantastic upscaled. I highly recommend the unit as a secondary DVD player.

Something to remember is "upscaling" only produces the picture in that resolution, but it won't make the picture any better. It can't add detail or information over the origanal source content. Your picture is only as good as the origanal.
