Has anyone experienced this? I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but just out of curiosity, I want to know what it is.
I have my Marantz DV7600 hooked up via analog cables for audio CD's as well as optically for DVD's (for decoding). Both are hooked to the same receiver, my Rotel 1056. If I'm playing a cd, I can choose either as the optical (obviously) still sends the 2 ch signal, only I guess the receiver's DAC's are being used this way. At any rate, with 2ch stereo set on the "DVD" input of the receiver, the music/disc sounds noticeably louder. Meaning, if I switch back and forth from "CD" to "DVD" on the receiver, the "DVD" sounds noticeably louder. Why would that be? Does it have to do with the DAC's? That doesn't seem right? Does it have to do with analog cables vs the optical? Again, this is just out of curiosity b/c it's so puzzling to me. I just want to know why this would be. Thanks for any help.
