DVD player keeps stopping on last song

When I play a CD on my Denon 1930, almost every time it freezes in the middle of the last song on one particular SACD. I can switch to another track after it stops but it won't play that one, and once I did nothing for about 5-10 minutes and it just started up where it left off. And it's a new SACD without a mark on it. Some other regular CD's have had brief 1 or 2 second blips but only rarely, and another CD or SACD (cant remember) also stops on the last song. What's the deal?

The only thing that comes to mind is the pressing of the actual disc. The capacity of a normal audio CD is 650 MB (72 minutes) but 700 MB (80 minutes) CDs are very common now. A CD must have a 90 second lead-in and lead-out and sometimes discs violate that requirement to fit more than 80 minutes of music on it. I'm not really familiar with the requirements for SACD but there are likely similar limitations. It could just be that the player has difficulty 'seeing' the last track because it follows the specs precisely and the disc itself does not.

If the SACD is a hybrid with a redbook CD layer, try playing it in a computer CD/DVD drive and check the total length of the audio.

Thanks MDS, The player is a Denon DVD1930 universal DVD/DVD-A/SACD/CD unit. I will check the total time on the disc and I'll also try it in my computer to see what happens. I was worried a little more because there were a few other momentary freeze ups on other discs. It was purchased with a warranty but is a factory refurb so I'm not clear on if I can return or exchange it.

Another thing I've discovered is that inputting double digit track numbers doesn't work right. If I hit in 1 and 2 for track 12, it goes right to track 1 before I can hit the second number.

I finally got it hooked up and set up right so it's sounding great and now these other problems crop up.

There might be a '+10' button on the remote. On mine, you have to hit +10 first and then you enter 12. The receiver and dvd player are both Onkyo and the dvd remote does not have the +10 button but the receiver remote does; the manuals of neither component mention the +10 button.

Ah HA! Nailed it......Never saw something like that before. Thanks!

Now if only the freezing up thing could be so easy. I found that another SACD does the same thing on the 15th track out of 15 where the first one is track 12 out of 12. Haven't had a chance to run it through the hard drive yet.

Now it's happening more often. Not just at the end of discs, but all over. Usually it will start up again if left alone in between 1-5 minutes but at the end of the disc it's usually worse. There it just makes mechanical noises for a few minutes and then returns to number of tracks on the display. Please tell me if there is anything I should look at before I try to take it somewhere for service.
