DVD Player- Buy Now or Wait?

I'm starting to get a little sick of the picture quality on my run-of-the-mill, progressive scan, Sony DVD player and was seriously thinking of picking up an OPPO (OPDV971H) for X-mas. On the other hand, maybe I should wait until the HD players start coming out... OR buy the OPPO now and wait a couple of years for the HD format wars to settle down (as well as the price). Opinions ??

Go for It!

I say get a new player for Christmas. It seemed like this topic was pretty popular about a year ago. And everyone that decided to wait is well... still waiting. I realize that we are getting closer to a release date all of the time. But I think as long as you don't go and spend a fortune you should be fine.

With any new technology, there are always issues in the first generation, so I would say getting a decent player now and waiting to see how the new formats do is a good idea.
