DVD 5900 discontinued?

I'm trying to purchase a denon dvd 5900 and I heard they are being discontinued. I tried to purchase them from two different dealers and I got the same answer. Is there anything wrong with them?

They are right.

The 5900 is discontinued. It will be ''replaced'' by the 3910 that is suppose to be a 5900 with slightly better audio DACs... But the weight of the 3910 is not there compared to the 5900, so it's not that clear if the 3910 will really be the ''same'' preformance wise.

And the upcoming 5910 will have a totally new video section, and a better analog section then the 5900, but will come out only around junuary next year...

I don't think the 3910 is meant as a replacement to the 5900. BTW the 5900 already has a great audio section, not sure what they will do to improve on it. We shall see.

Large audio companies are like car companies in that they need product to come out every year (or more frequently sometimes). It doesn't mean anything is wrong with the 5900, just that the new model year is on the way. That could mean you can find the 5900 at a better price, too. From what I've read, the new one won't up the ante too much, features-wise.

That's why I said "replaced" not replaced...

People (like always) are speculating like crazy all around the net about the 3910 beeing a "replacement" for the 5900...

Denon 3910 and 5910

Does anyone on this forum know when the 3910 will be sold? I have no DVD or universal player and I am kind of anxious about getting one that is not obsolete in a few weeks or months. Thank you.

I just spoke to Denon and they said in 60 days it will be at the dealers.
