DVD & 480i

I have an Anthem D2 with a video scaler that would be best served inputing a 480i signal from DVD. Would it be worth my while to buy an upscale player like the Marantz DV 9600 or just go with something like the OPPO 970 HD?

What I've read seem to

suggest that if you have a good quality external scaler then go with the oppo 970 unit via hdmi in 480i.And at $150.00 save some bucks.

Your upscaler is most likely better than one you will find in most dvd players, the oppo is one of the few i know that will output 480i over hdmi i would suggest that

The Marantz outputs in 480i also I am wondering if it is worth the additional investment.

I think the oppo 970 is all you would need!Wait till the review is out and see what the Audioholics staff have to say.
Hey guess what Clint has posted the review, read it if you like.As far as investment on the marantz player it's your call, I'd wait untill the format war and which version hdmi issues are resolved before I invest lots of money.
