I picked up a used Pioneer 563-A DVD/SACD player off eBay last week. The first time I powered it on the front panel display did not light. Now when I power it on it comes on, gives the "welcome" and "loading" messages and displays the disc (if any) but then turns off after playing awhile - so I can't see what tracks I'm selecting, for instance. Unit seems fine otherwise.
Is this a sign of a broken front panel display or a quirk of this model?
I am using it in a music-only system so I can't use the onscreen displays.
Also, the manual says very little about using the panel display - do I need to lug a TV in & hook it up to do the intial setup?? Oy!
