Will subs firing 90 degrees from each other in the corner sound similar to stacking them

I have a unique living room that has only one corner I can place my subwoofer(s). This corner currently has two subwoofers stacked (psw505 and psw108). I experimented with stacking as I noticed some manufacturers such as PSA and JTR have dual subwoofers in a single cabinet and they are stacked. I understand that the main feedback I will get is, don't place dual subwoofers in the same corner, but as I have said before, I have no choice but this corner.

I recently purchased two HSU VTF-3's, arriving in a couple of days. Due to their size, I cannot stack them. My one option is to place them in a L position in the corner (similar to the posting). The two subs will fire parallel to each wall.

Has anyone tried this or have thoughts on this setup? Will it sound similar to stacking? I am looking for high spl and good low end bass. Thank you so much for answering.

Placing the subs at 90-degree angles will not affect their performance. Just make sure they share all the same setting configurations, especially the same phase setting. Placing them so close to each other will make them behave as a single sub. It will essentially be like a sub with twice the performance of a VTF-3, and that will be one heck of a sub.

By co-locating them either via stacking or side by side in the corner shouldn't be much different, if any and the direction the driver points isn't likely to make much difference either. Placing subs like that (within a 1/4 wavelength of each other) would maximize the output but you'd not gain the usual benefit of two subs as far as room smoothing of modes goes....
