yes please delay this till August. Then I don't have to get a converter box for my fiancee.

This whole thing is a joke. If they aren't ready by now then they never will be.

They aren't going to be ready in four months either. Just do it already. The only way to get them to get the damn box is if they lose tv and have to. Next thing you know it'll be Feb of 2010 before it happens.

It's partially the governments fault that some people aren't ready since they did a really poor job of issuing/managing the $40 off coupons. They should have not allowed them to expire. I also agree that they should just let it happen, it will cause some people to get new tv's, some to get either cable or satellite, and the rest will either get a converter box, or just do without tv altogether. Why not help stimulate the economy by forcing people to either buy a new tv, a converter, or subscribe to cable or satellite.

Who cares. My guess is, if someone is still using OTA TV, they don't mind waiting longer since they've waited this long. It's not like switching to digital is going to turn an SDTV into an HDTV like a lot of people out there think.

Many Americans do not have the income to support the purchase of new TVs or converter boxes, and with the current state of the economy, can we really blame them. Some families would be faced with the choice of feeding their families for the week or buying a converter box.

But really, who cares about those that can't afford the good life, screw the poor... *sigh*

If they dont have the money for a converter or regular cable box they should have bigger problems. Like food for yourself,kids even rent...

my guess is (but its not really a guess) it doesn't have squat to do with the boxes.
i am beting that the broadcasters lobbied to have it extended.

There have been "coupons" out for the converter boxes since they hit the market. All they have to do is call and get one and the box is free. There's no cost...

Except that funding has run out, so now new coupons are only distributed after other coupons expire without being used.

My first one expired last year before I found one that I liked, so I'm in line for another one.

The coupons are only for $40 off, and the boxes cost $60, so they aren't exaclty free, but $20 is definitely not out of reach for most.
