I've noticed with both neural x and straight up dts x hardly anything comes from the heights if they're configured as top middle. Changing the to either front or rear heights immediately solves the issue, however, it obviously screws up the imaging since the speakers are mounted as top middle. I noticed this as well then watching the dts object emulator demo, the only time sound came from the heights was when the ball was directly in the center overhead, otherwise it was as silent as a graveyard at midnight.
Had anyone else experienced this problem? I'm afraid the only solution I can come up with would be to mount them as front heights since DTS MA tracks are locked to neural X and 95% of blurays are authored using DTS.
So much for it supposedly adapting to any speaker configuration. Atmos sounds good regardless of the config.
