dts sound cuts problem with Harman Kardon

i'm brand new on this forum and i hope i'll find here a solution to my problem.
i have a harman kardon AVR132 amp for my home cinema, the bluray player is sony bdp-s470, and when i play bluray with DTS (non hd, simple dts) soundtracks, the sound cuts almost every second. the strange thing is that this problem only came up because i just bought a bluray player yesterday. indeed, with my old dvd player, dts soundtracks on dvds played flawlessly.
i am pretty sure this comes from the amp because when i use the tv sound, and not the amp, i don't get this cutted sound.

anyone has any idea where this could come from? i don't understand why dvd dts works and bluray dts not (i repeat, simple dts, not dts hd)

It's probably the Blue Ray player. for somke reason it has an HTCP code violation problem. A TV does not have repeater architecture because it is an end device. The receiver has to have repeater HTCP codes. Some how DTS 5.1 is getting interrupted in the repeated handshakes required.

Sometimes we just get incompatibilities between units. What is the age of your receiver? If it is old it might have version of HTCP codes too far back.

Make sure you have the latest firmware in the HK and the Sony BD player. Even though you just bought it it might have out of date software.

If that does not do the trick, take the SONY back and try a different brand. If another brand of BD player does the same thing, then it is new receiver time, or you need to avoid using an HDMI connection between receiver and BD player.

The DRM of HDMI via HDCP codes, still bites quite a few honest hard working folk and I bet it is biting you now.

and i don't think the HK is a model on which you can update firmware..

Then likely the HK is obsolete and needs a pension.
