Greetings.

I'm about to have my CD player installed back into my car (how I've gone a year without CDs is still a mystery) and I've found that I like to listen to certain songs when driving.

Quality or Dynamic range don't really matter when I've driving, it just need to have a certain beat, and a certain flow. Some songs have stood out over others, but I'd like to hear your recommendations, and you build up a reference list of driving music for all to see.

To give you an Idea of what I'm after, I'l going to like some songs that really stood out for me.

Edgar Winter Group - Frankenstein.

Van Moririson - Moondance (not the real singer, but closest thing on youtube)

The Fall Of troy - Laces out, Dan! (Bad video, but the right song).

Death By Stereo - Unstoppable

Golden Earing - Radar Love

Ludovico Einaudi - Primavera

Pendulum - Girl In The Fire.

Peope In Planes - Light For The Deadvine

Poison The Well - The Realist (No video, sorry)

Clint Mansel - Lux Aeterna

I think you get the idea.

Please, post what you like driving to, and I'll check them out.

I'll pop in a CD and listen to it for months at a time, until I finally get around to changing it out. Right now, I have a compilation disc with songs like Rehab (Rihanna) and Let's Dance (Lady Gaga). The last disc was one from Led Zeppelin's Mothership set - I'd listen to Stairway to Heaven, mostly.

I just like something that will take me mind off the multitude of nimrods that I encounter on my two hours of driving every day. :)

I remember driving cross country when I was 15 listening to some BTO. That worked the best out of our selection and almost 30 years later, it's the only thing I remember out of our selection.

Sheep, thanks for posting all those links, not like that lazy bum Jamie.:D

My family rented a rv when i was 12 years old. We drove to california up to washington state and back to west virginia in six weeks:D We got around texas when my brother bought led zeppelin II and bad company's first, eight track tapes. Its kinda funny because we jammed it all the way to cali. My parents hated it :D

You hit three of my favorites with Frankenstein, Radar Love and Moondance. I would also suggest Rush, almost any but Free Will or Fly By Night work best for driving.

I'll definitely second the Joe Satriani, especially Surfing with the Alien or Satch Boogie.

Joe Walsh - Funk #49 or Walk Away.
Godsmack - Sick of Life or Awake.
Evanescence - My Last Breath.
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son.
Boston - Peace of Mind.
Ozzy - I Don't Know or Suicide Solution.
RATM - Killing in the Name or Take The Power Back
Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55. (It's cliche but it still works)
Lots of ZZ Top - Tush, Got Me Under Pressure, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide, Cheap Sunglasses, La Grange...ZZ Top was made for driving.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Truck Driving Man.
You might also like Black Label Society - Suicide Messiah or Trivium - Dying In your Arms.

On a different note, if you're just out cruisin' and chillaxin on a beautiful, slow sunny day, I like Spyro Gyra - Catching the Sun.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming. Couple others I remembered.

Loverboy - Working For The Weekend. This song has one cheesy part, but then it's all driving business after that.

Payola$ - Eyes of a stranger.

Phil Colins - In The Air Tonight

Dire Straights - Sultans Of Swing.

Big Sugar - Better Get Used To It

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell

Billy Idol - White Wedding

What I listen to in the car kinda depends on mood, but...

At night, I like that half time but heavy stuff... like Distance, Burial, Benga, Skream...

Chrstine Vaccine always goes well with girls in the car:

Lots of drum and bass too:

For those late afternoon smoke runs I like reggae and dub music:
