Driver replacement

Looking for a replacement driver for a Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 subwoofer. I have it out: 3 lbs, 6.5", "long-throw fiber composite cone" sez the specs.
Would this Goldwood driver work?: http://www.speakercity.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=GW-S5650-4
I don't know an ohm from a hare krishna, the Goldwood says 4ohms.

Most likely no, that won't work. The box, amp, eq'ing and driver are all carefully selected and modeled to work together. It's not as simple as it seems. I know with regular speakers it's pretty much guaranteed to not turn out well. Did you try contacting the manufacturer to see what they recommend? If you could find the T/S parameters of the speaker we might be able to find a match. You should be able to get that info from Klipsch.

What happened? You're sure the driver is what went bad rather than the amp?

yes, foam torn and separated from cone. Amp still drives other satellites.
