Driver age & replacement guidelines?

Hi all,

Are there any generally accepted guidelines as to the replacement of drivers based-on age?

Is it even necessary if the drivers are all working properly?

I am investigating a pair of quality speakers that are 9 years old, everything is in proper working order, and am just curious if there are any gotchas to look out for with respect to age of the drivers themselves.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As long as the drivers are all in good shape and working, they should sound as good as new. Look for tears, binding in the coils, and woofer surround rot. Other than that, enjoy your new speakers.
