Downloaded the new OS to my Playbook

I installed the new OS into my Playbook late last night but I didn't have much time to play with it yet. The menu from the previous OS as changed a bit. I'm really looking forward to explore the Android apps that can now be played on this device.

How do you like the Playbook? I'm mulling over the idea of getting a tablet and the prices for the Playbook are pretty darn appealing. You don't find the screen too small do you? Would you consider that to be a fair tradeoff for being more compact?

I find the screen size to be big enough to be comfortable. The bigger screen sizes would be easier to read but the trade off is that you also have a larger bulkier device to carry along.I think the tradeoff is good. I also like the fact that I can bridge my Playbook to my Blackberry to gain web access where ever I go, something you can not do with some of the other tablets such as the ipad.

Sure you can (with an iPad). It just requires an extra fee or a jailbroken iPhone to activate the wifi sharing mode. (or even an Android with wifi sharing)

That's just it. Its an extra fee. There is no extra feel

You can have one device that can be partitioned for work and personal use and the two are kept seperate with no way of exchanging data between the two partitions. As far as I know this feature is exclusive to Blackberries and Playbooks.

I see the ability to use Android apps by the Playbook will help its sale immensely. The thing is Blackberrys and Playbooks are more for work while ipads and iphones are meant for leisure. The other thing North Americans aren't aware of is that Blackberry is still by far the most predominant smart phone outside of North America. Sadly the closed minded press bent on a smear campaign will not disclose this fact.

Well, I decided to take the plunge. Staples has a good deal on right now. Get a free zip-up case and a rapid charging stand with a Playbook purchase - a$100 value. I really don't think I need 64GB. The question will be - 16GB or 32GB. I highly doubt that I'll watch movies on this. What else could take up so much space?

I have 39 music albums, the movie Transformers 3 in Mp4 format, and an excel spreadsheet of my record collection and I've consumed 10.9 Gigs out of 59.4 available. I also have a number of apps (20 or so) which I downloaded. Get the 32 Gig as it leaves you wiggle room.

I don't picture myself listening to music on this, nor watching movies/TV. But, you never know. So, the extra 16 GB will provide a safety margin.

I'm still exploring this thing. I haven't had any other tablet or other Blackberry products, so it's all new to me. I played around a bit with a friend's iPad and my brother-in-law's Playbook briefly and I felt that for half the price of a 32GB iPad2 and considering my wants/needs, it was a no-brainer - especially with the rapid charging dock and carrying case included in the deal.

The larger screen of the iPad is nice, but I like the compact size of the Playbook. My eyes are still good enough to read text on the smaller screen.

I've never been into video games, but I tried the pre-loaded "Need For Speed" last night. Unsurprisingly, I sucked at it. I let my daughter try it and she got close to my best time on her first try! She's 9! I'm gonna have to practice...and not let her touch it again..

I loaded some news-related apps and I think I'll get "What's Up", as I really liked the astronomy (can't remember which one) app on my buddy's iPad.

So far, I'm really enjoying it. Now, if there was only an Audioholics app....

Congrats. Sorry it took so long to respond but I've been so freaken busy doing all kinds of strange hours at work.

My Playbook has become my MP3 player and the occasional DVD player should I get stuck shopping or being a passenger on a long trip.
