"There is already a ton of extra stuff on the Signature Series version. A few of the added scenes were beneficial, but not all of them in the extended cut."
ABSOLUTELY agreed here; there is more than enough extra crap on the Signature Selection, plus that DTS track....it is the definitive cut of Gladiator, no doubt.
"If you like that kind of flick, I'd say it is worth it. The sound was already pretty good on the DD version, the DTS is a bit better, but neither is extremely aggressive with the surrounds. I haven't heard the Superbit, I have the SE "director's cut" which didn't really add much of any real benefit. If I were buying it today, I'd probably go for the SB because it is $9.99 at Best Buy."
Thanks for the info; yeah, all the Superbits have dropped to 10 bucks at Best Buy, so I swapped alot of my collection out already for them....but Underworld was going to be a blind buy for me because one of my editors over at HT magazine who contributed to the 100 Best DVDs of All Time/Build the Ultimate DVD Library issue listed the Underworld Superbit as one of the best sounding discs of the year with limitless surround usage; surprising that you say neither is aggressive (DD or DTS)....I wonder if its the same DTS track as used on the Superbit....
