Interesting that it says HDMI 1.1 because the players/receivers will need 1.3 to be able to "handshake" (for copyright?).

HDMI 1.1 works perfectly fine for all of the new audio formats as long as the format is decoded in the player and not the receiver. It will be delivered to receiver as a lossless PCM track and give you the same quality as if it was done in the receiver.

The only difference is the front of your receiver will say "Multi CH In" instead of Dolby TruHD. Other than that HDMI 1.3 is not needed for the advanced audio formats.

No HDMI 1.3 was made so we could have enough bandwidth to send a 1080p video signal along with a 5.1+ lossless audio signal through the same cable.
