Dolby Digital Receiver problem

I finally got my surrounds in and I mounted them so my new 5.1 setup is ready to go but I am having some trouble with dolby digital dvds. For some reason the receiver will not output Dolby Digital 5.1 on dvds that have it. DTS works just fine as the multi-ch out light in the receiver lights up and I get a "DTS 3/2" msg on the screen. I know the receiver can do DD because I have it hooked to my Directv box and when I watch some movies on HBO I get the "Dolby Digital 3/2" message and the multi-ch out lights up. Some of the dvds I have which are DD 5.1 and do not work are Terminator 2 Extreme DVD and V for Vendetta. The dvd player is hooked up to the receiver via digital coax cable and the Directv box is hooked up via toslink.

The receiver is a pretty old Sony STR-DE675 http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=STRDE675

Does DD still work with the sat box?

Make sure your DVD player's settings are set to Bitstream and DD output is set to on.

Yeah DD works perfectly on the sat box. I will check the settings on the dvd player.

Let us know on your findings. It is possible that Bitstream is set to on as well as DTS and DD could still be off. What are you using for a DVD player?

Ok I changed the settings on the dvd player from PCM to Bitstream and now DD works. I didn't even know that existed, thanks Seth. It is a Toshiba upconvert dvd player with divx. Got it for like 40 bucks on sale at BB over a year ago. Now I can watch T2 5.1.
