Does volume level matter in setting up with Audyssey?

I started wondering if there is a specific level you should have the volume set before you run the Audyssey to do the auto set up? I just ran it at a 'reasonable' volume, not using my SPL meter like I had in the past to do it manually. Should I redo at ?? SPL ?? thanks....Onkyo TX-NR1007

The software can't know how drivers behave at different volume. For sure they have different excursion amplitude/errors/etc so I'd say calibrate it at the volume you're usually listening to.
If you can save different "profiles/filters" you should (low volume/normal/loud/etc) and use them accordingly for best performance.

If the receiver is properly designed, it will make no difference how you set the volume control. Consult your manual and I think you will see that they do not have you set the volume control at any particular point for the auto setup. That is because it is irrelevant in any decently designed unit (probably in every poorly designed unit as well).

I don't have Audyssey but with my Pioneer with Mcacc it sets the volume to 0db when you run the cal. Doesn't Audyssey do the same?

All Audyssey auto calibations done at 0db, regardless of your volume setting.
